2021 Rocket Foods New Zealand Rowing Championships - Draught at the Draft
A Special General Meeting was held virtually on Monday 14 December, with all 11 Associations voting unanimously in favour of proposed changes to the 2021 Rocket Foods New Zealand Rowing Championships. One of the proposed changes voted upon unanimously was the Premier 4x- and Premier 8+ changing to a draft format. Athletes must be Senior Grade and above to nominate for each of these events.

Both Rowing NZ and New Zealand’s Summer Squad athletes are excited about the new format for the Premier 4x- and Premier 8+ events, and are looking forward to many exciting races in February.
Nominations
Athletes wishing to nominate themselves must complete the below form to be considered for selection into the Premier 4x- and Premier 8+ events. Athletes may nominate and race in both events. Races will be held on Saturday 20 February. 4x- racing will be held in Block Five, and 8+ racing will be held in Block Six.

Nominations close at 10pm Tuesday 2 February 2021.
Selections
All Draft Premier 4x- and Premier 8+ crews will be selected on Tuesday 16 February 2021 in a closed selection meeting.
Team Captains for the 8+ will be established through the winners of the Premier 2- heats (subject to the number of Captains required) and will take turns at selecting their crew from the nominations received.
Team Captains for the 4x- will be established through the winners of the Premier 1x heats (subject to the number of Captains required) and will take turns at selecting their crew from the nominations received.
Crew Announcements
Crews selected through the Selection Process outlined above will be announced at the Draught at the Draft function on Wednesday 17 February, at a location to be determined. Further information on this function will be shared in due course.
The number of crews per event will be based on the number of athlete nominations received and the draft process, and not all nominated athletes may be selected into a crew. Nominated athlete names will only be shared for administrative purposes within Rowing NZ and amongst associated Team Captains. Athletes successfully selected into crews should note that information provided throughout the Nomination Process may be shared publicly at the Draught at the Draft.
