New Zealand U19 (formally Junior) Nominations Open

  • 27 Oct 20

Nominations for the 2021 U19 (formally Junior) programme will open on 1 November and can be submitted online between 1 and 15 November 2020.

Athletes must submit either a 5km erg test (non-rate capped) or a 30-minute test (rate 20) along with their nomination. This must be witnessed and signed off by an athlete's school or club coach. Athletes will then be asked to submit a 2km test completed between 1 January and 28 February 2021.

Rowing NZ will host two U19 Development Camps in parallel from 13 – 15 December 2020, immediately following the Christmas Regatta at Lake Karapiro or Otago Championships Regatta at Lake Ruataniwha. This will provide an opportunity for approximately 70 invited U19 athletes to learn more about Rowing NZ's athlete pathway and selection processes, and will allow selectors to see the athletes outside of racing. Athletes must indicate if they wish to be considered and are available for the camp when they submit their nomination. Whilst this is a good opportunity for athletes to be seen, non-participation does not exclude athletes from U19 selection. The cost of the camp will be covered by Rowing NZ.

Rowing NZ invite coaches wishing to be involved in either camp to send an expression of interest to Michele Munro by 10 November 2020.  Applications are encouraged to be made by coaches working with Junior aged athletes looking to gain experience on the high-performance pathway, as well as those wanting to be considered for age group campaigns.

Nominations forms can be found here.
