Rowing NZ 2020 AGM

  • 31 Mar 20

On 23 March the New Zealand Government advised New Zealand will enter Alert Level 4 from 11.59pm 25 March.

Rowing NZ have considered the government announcement and the continued uncertainty of the coming weeks/months as they relate to travel, mass gatherings and social distancing. The Rowing NZ Board has also considered the impact on volunteer administrators and the clubs and associations at this time, including financial implications.

For these reasons Rowing NZ have postponed the 2020 NZRA + NZRF AGM, with a view to reschedule to a date later this year. At this stage we are considering early October with the possibility of combining a Whole of Sport Forum on the same weekend. The actual date will be confirmed when alert level restrictions become clear.

There are constitutional issues which arise from such a postponement. Given the current circumstances, it is anticipated that local associations will be fully supportive in validating the deferment. The Annual Financial Statements and Annual Report will however be posted online and via email by the original due date of 17 April.

Rowing NZ encourage all Associations and Affiliations to continue with online nomination processes for all associated awards, constitutional amendments and remits.

Please note the submission dates have changed and are now as follows:

Volunteer recognition – 19 June 2020

Club of the Year – 19 June 2020

Service Award – 19 June 2020

Nomination for Election of Officers – 19 June 2020

Notification of Delegates – 19 June 2020

Constitutional Amendments: send to rachael@rowingnz.kiwi by 19 June 2020

Remits: send to rachael@rowingnz.kiwi by 19 June 2020

The 2020 AGM will remain in Hamilton at Novotel Tainui.

An official postponement date will be announced in due course.
