World Rowing Championships - Day Four
Flat calm conditions, clear skies and hot temperatures greeted crews on the fourth day of the World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria. Ten New Zealand crews contested eight quarter-finals, one repechage and one C/D semi-final. At the conclusion of the fourth day of racing, New Zealand crews have progressed to two A Finals and ten A/B semi-finals. Women’s Pair (W2-) - Quarter-Final Grace Prendergast and Kerri Gowler placed first in their women’s pair quarter-final and move to the A/B semi-final. Lightweight Women’s Double (LW2x) - Quarter-Final Zoe McBride and Jackie Kiddle placed first in their lightweight women’s double quarter-final and progress to the A/B semi-final. Women’s Single (W1x) - Quarter-Final Emma Twigg placed first in her women’s single quarter-final and progresses to the A/B semi-final. PR2 Men’s Single (PR2 M1x) - Repechage Gavin Foulsham placed fourth in the PR2 men’s single repechage and moves to the A Final. Men’s Pair (M2-) - Quarter-Final Thomas Murray and Michael Brake placed first in their men’s pair quarter-final and move to the A/B semi-final. Lightweight Men’s Double (LM2x) - Quarter-Final Matthew Dunham and Harrison Somerville placed third in their lightweight men’s double quarter-final and move to the A/B semi-final. Men’s Double (M2x) - Quarter-Final John Storey and Chris Harris placed second in their quarter-final and move to the men’s double A/B semi-final. Men’s Single (M1x) - Quarter-Final Robbie Manson placed second in his men’s single quarter-final and moves to the A/B semi-final. Lightweight Men’s Single (LM1x) - Quarter-Final Ben van Dalen placed sixth in his lightweight men’s single quarter-final and moves to the C/D semi-final. Men’s Four (M4-) - C/D Semi-Final Ben Taylor, Ian Seymour, Thomas Mackintosh and Thomas Russel placed first in their men’s four C/D semi-final and move to the C Final. Thursday’s schedule includes A/B semi-finals for the lightweight women’s double, women’s pair, women’s four, lightweight men’s double and men’s quad, as well as repechage races for the women’s quad and men’s eight. Thursday will also see the lightweight men’s single contest the C/D semi-final. The women’s single, women’s double, men’s single, men's pair and men’s double will race A/B semi-finals on Friday, followed by the PR2 men’s single A Final. The women’s eight will contest the A Final on Sunday while the men’s four will contest the C Final on Saturday. |
