World Rowing Championships - Day Two

  • 26 Aug 19

The second day of the 2019 World Rowing Championships saw only two of New Zealand’s 16 crews race in Linz, Austria. The Linz-Ottensheim course made for perfect racing conditions with flat water and clear skies.

At the conclusion of the second day, New Zealand crews have progressed to one A/B semi-final, eight quarter-finals and four repechage races. A further three crews are yet to contest heats.

Women’s Double (W2x) - Heat

Brooke Donoghue and Olivia Loe placed first in their heat of the women’s double and progress to the A/B semi-final.

PR2 Men’s Single (PR2 M1x) - Heat

Gavin Foulsham placed third in the PR2 men’s single heat and moves to a repechage.

While this is Foulsham’s first World Rowing Championships, he is no stranger to international competition having attended five World Championships between 1991 to 2006 as a wheelchair marathoner, as well as having competed in the 1992 to 2000 Paralympic Games in Barcelona and Sydney. Foulsham has trained under coach Ross Webb on the Clive River in Hawke’s Bay.

The New Zealand women’s eight, women’s quad and men’s eight will contest heats on Tuesday, along with repechage races for the women’s four, men’s four and men’s quad.
