Rowing NZ - Athlete Development Leader

Rowing NZ are pleased to announce the appointment of Annika Wing to Rowing NZ’s High Performance Athlete Development Leader position.

A former rowing athlete herself, Annika has held multiple sport management positions including roles with the London Olympic Games Organising committee as the Team Leader for the Sport Information Team, the German Rowing Foundation (High Performance Manager) and the German Triathlon Foundation (High Performance Manager).

Annika has completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport & Exercise Sciences, a Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology and a PhD in Sports Performance, bringing a wealth of international experience and knowledge to our team.

Originally from the UK, and holding dual citizenship (British and German), Annika is relocating from Germany and is looking forward to joining Rowing NZ on 20 August.

Auckland RPC – Assistant Coach

Rowing NZ are pleased to announce the appointment of Bryce Abernethy as Auckland RPC Assistant Coach.

Bryce has completed a Certificate in High-Performance Sport, a Bachelor of Physical Education, a Postgraduate Diploma in Physical Education and a Masters of Applied Science, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the Auckland RPC team.

Bryce joins Rowing NZ from Southern RPC where he has held an Assistant Winter Coach position since May 2019. Bryce has also held Head Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach positions with both John McGlashan College and Canterbury Rowing Association.

During the 2018 and 2019 domestic seasons Bryce coached multiple medalling crews at the South Island Secondary School Championships, the Aon Maadi Cup and the Rocket Foods New Zealand Rowing Championships. Bryce also coached the 2018 and 2019 U18 South Island teams.

A five-time national title winner, Bryce represented New Zealand in rowing from 2012-2016 across Trans-Tasman, U21, World University and U23 teams.

Bryce will join Auckland RPC on 30 September.
