2016/2017 Summer Squad Announcement

Rowing New Zealand today announced its 2016/2017 summer squad athletes.

56 athletes have been invited to the summer squad across men’s and women’s sweep and sculling.

The squad aligns with Rowing New Zealand’s small boat focus, as well as the continuation of the men’s and women’s eights programme.

The summer squad has also been expanded ahead of World Rowing/FISA’s February congress where rule changes relating to gender balance are anticipated.

Athletes who have only attended the Rio Olympic Games, or have not attended an Olympic Games will have until 3 rd October to confirm their acceptance with full time training commencing on the 31 st October at the Rowing New Zealand High Performance Centre at Lake Karapiro.

Athletes who have competed in two or more Olympic Games have until 18 thNovember to accept their place with full time training for this group resuming at Lake Karapiro on 28 th November.
