Coach Development Manager Appointed
Rowing New Zealand would like to announce the appointment of Rebecca Beattie to our Coach Development Manager role. Rebecca will be based at Rowing New Zealand’s High Performance Centre, in Cambridge starting on 14th March.
Rebecca has a Masters of Sport and Exercise (Sport Psychology and Coaching) from AUT and has lead the logistics and delivery of the RNZ coaching modules as Auckland Rowing Coach Development Facilitator. She also has experience supporting and developing school coaches of all sports at both Glenfield and Birkenhead College’s and with her rowing coaching background and working with development athletes in both the North Island U18 and New Zealand U21 team, Rebecca brings a range of skills and experiences to this role.
The Coach Development Manager role is responsible for leading the development of a sustainable coach pathway by maximising the quality and the competencies of coaches at all levels in our sport. This management position will lead the structure and direction of coach education, coach communications, pathways and conferences.
Her key focus areas will be:
- Lead, manage and facilitate the Rowing NZ Coach Education framework throughout the country, to accelerate school and club coaches skills and competencies,
- Provide a clear coach pathway that aligns with the athlete pathway that enables coaches to continually develop within their coaching communities.
- Identify, develop and support coaches who are capable of coaching age- group athletes capable of winning on the world stage.
Rowing New Zealand see this strategic role in supporting and developing our rowing coaches, as a key area in achieving our vision to “be the best rowing nation in the world”.
