2016 January regattas
With the festive season almost upon us it means that the first regattas of 2016 are just around the corner so a reminder to get your entries in over the coming weeks.
The first regatta of 2016 is the Tremains Hawkes Bay Cup Regatta on 2 – 3 Jan. This annual regatta is a great way to kick off the year with the added bonus of prize money up for grabs. Entries for the Tremains Hawkes Bay Cup close on 27 December.
The following weekend is the Porirua Sprint 500 held on 9 January with entries for this half day regatta closing on 4 January.
On the weekend of 16 –17 January the regatta season really starts to heat up. Lake Ruataniwha will host the Meridian Canterbury Championships while Wanganui is hosting the North Island Championships. Entries for the Canterbury Championships close 3 January and entries for the North Island Champs close 5 January.
Both the Wellington Provincial Championships and the Dewar Shield Blue Lakes Regatta (which is a two day regatta) will be held the weekend of 23 January. Entries close for the Blue Lakes Regatta on 11 January and for the Wellington Championships on 12 January.
January wraps up with two more major regattas – the Cambridge Town Cup Regatta, held over three days (29 – 31 Jan) and Meridian South Island Rowing Championships on 30 – 31 January. Entries for these regattas will open in due course and can be expected to close mid-January.
