Auckland Grammar School is a leading state school located in central Auckland that has a celebrated sporting culture. With over 2,600 students, it is the largest single-sex boys’ school in the country.

Summary of Position :

Auckland Grammar School is looking to appoint a Head Coach of Rowing who will lead the School’s rowing programme on and off the water. The rowing programme delivers the sport for boys through Years 9 – 13 and aims to enable students to reach their full potential in the sport.

The programme is well established with healthy numbers, excellent equipment, skilled coaches and an effective management committee.

We are looking for a Head Coach who has the ability to work in a positive team environment, to lead a team of coaches and to engage with young people to develop them in the sport. The key focus of this role will be the development of a performance plan for athletes and the management of day-to-day training sessions and regattas. This is to be achieved without compromising the academic achievement of rowers. The Head Coach is expected to uphold and promote the school values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect, Courage, Pride, Commitment and Humility. Teaching alongside this role would be possible if the candidate desired.

Candidates must have a minimum of Level 2 Rowing Coaching Certificate. A sports tertiary qualification is also desirable but not essential.

The programme is based in Auckland, New Zealand with the School in Epsom and the rowing facility in Panmure.

Desirable start date is 5 September 2024. Remuneration for this position will range from $55,000 - $65,000.
