We are looking for a motivated and organised Community and Schools Rowing Coordinator to join our team at Rowing New Zealand.

The Role:

This role will focus on providing support with the delivery of our community and school rowing activities and also to work closely with the General Manager - Community and Development to develop and enhance the relationships between Rowing New Zealand (RNZ) and its community stakeholders.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Providing support prior to, during and post of with rowing regattas
  • Develop relationships with community, school rowing and race official committees and attend meetings, take minutes and follow through with required actions
  • Collaborate with other national sporting organisations (NSOs) to exchange information and ideas
  • Lead, motivate, support and positively influence volunteer networks
  • Create close connections with all associations and support the development school rowing across New Zealand

About You:

Our ideal candidate will ideally have a tertiary qualification in sport/event management or similar and have experience and knowledge of rowing in some capacity. Previous experience working with community and the school sporting environment is essential along with developing and leading sport development programs.

Due to the timing of regattas, you'll also need to be available to work weekends and undertake domestic travel when required, sometimes for extended periods.

Relationship building will come naturally to you, and you'll be comfortable liaising with people of all levels and will influence change along the way. You'll be a forward thinker, able to make independent decisions, and remain cool, calm and collected when the pressure is on.

In addition, it goes without saying that you'll be a natural multi-tasker with a solution-focused perspective and your superior IT literacy weaves nicely with your clear and concise written and verbal comms.

About Us:

Rowing New Zealand (RNZ) is the national sport organisation (NSO) for all rowing in New Zealand. RNZ has a kaitiaki responsibility for the sport as well as supporting the delivery of quality experiences for all participants through the pathway at Community (Schools, Clubs, Universities), Development (pathways for athletes and coaches) and Performance (international campaigns including World Championships and Olympic Games) levels.
