Cashmere High School is looking for a paid assistant coach to join our team for the upcoming season. The successful candidate will be working under our Head Coach to deliver a range of water and land based training sessions to our co-ed rowing programme.
Cashmere High School is a large state coeducational school located in Cashmere, Christchurch. The school established rowing in 2012 and has a strong foundation, active committee and a supportive principal all keen to see Cashmere as a successful rowing school.
We have a small but successful programme that has a focus on growing the depth of talent and rowing success across the whole squad. The 2020/2021 season saw a competitive group of 30 rowers win a total of 10 medals, 5 of which were gold at SI and SISS. Additionally a Maadi silver and making the BU8 A Final for the first time in the school’s history, our best results to date.
This is the perfect platform for us as we look to the coming season.
We are looking to appoint 1 or 2 paid assistant coaches to support our Head Coach by helping plan for and supervising training sessions, as well as attending training camps and regattas. As part of the role, they will be called upon to coach novice, junior or senior crews, as well as males and females.
This role would suit an up and coming young coach or an experienced coach who wants to pass on their knowledge in order to grow rowing in a developing programme. Necessary skills would include:
●Excellent technical knowledge
●Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
●The ability to work with other entities at our affiliate club, including plant management and training allocations
●Supporting young rowers in a way that meets the needs of the school’s overall objectives of an inclusive, engaged and positive culture.
Cashmere High School is affiliated with Canterbury Rowing Club which provides the base from which the majority of our training occurs.
Remuneration will reflect your experience and availability. Food, travel and accommodation for regattas and training camp will be covered by the Cashmere High School Rowing.
