St Paul’s Collegiate Rowing Club is looking to appoint Full Time and Part Time Rowing Coaches to help our programme from September 2020. The club has just come off a very successful season - winning a number of medals at North Island Secondary Schools’ Championships. A growth in popularity and interest around the club’s expansion has resulted in the need for Full Time and Part Time coaches for this coming season.
The programme consists of 60+ male and female rowers who train from a private school boat shed on the Waikato River just 10 minutes walk from the school. The plant is in good condition with well-maintained boats and equipment. We have a strong coaching team in place for the 2020/21 season, consisting of NZ U23 coaches, International and Olympic coaches and managers, strength and conditioning specialists and school staff to fulfil the requirements of our athletes.
The roles would require approximately 30 hours per week during the season including morning sessions and school holiday camps. As the majority of the school rowers are boarders, the summer holiday training typically consists of three camps with no direct coaching contact required in between. Coaching around a current workload will be considered and discussed at an interview.
The club has the backing of a very supportive and committee and group of parents who work together in a collaborative and encouraging manner.
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate:
- A proven track record in delivering a successful rowing programme
- A proven track record of working with a team of coaches
- Sound understanding of rowing technical development and athlete physiology
- Outstanding planning and organizational skills
Positions are paid, pro rata depending on experience.
