Cashmere High School is a large state co-educational school located in Cashmere, Christchurch. The school established rowing in 2012 and Cashmere Rowing has a strong foundation, active committee, and a supportive principal all keen to see Cashmere as a successful rowing school.

The 2019/2020 season saw a competitive group of 19 rowers win a total of 9 medals (SI & SISS) for their school and club, our best results to date. This is the perfect platform for us as we look to the coming season.

Cashmere High School Rowing expects to have around 25-30 rowers for the 2020/2021 season. We have a small but successful programme which has a focus of growing the depth of talent and rowing success across the whole squad.

We are looking to appoint 1 or 2 paid assistant coaches to support our Head Coach by helping plan and coach training sessions, as well as attending training camps and regattas.

As part of the role, they will be called upon to coach novice, junior or senior crews, as well as males and females. This role would suit an up and coming young coach or experienced coach who wants to pass on their knowledge in order to grow rowing in a developing programme.

Food, travel, and accommodation for regattas and training camp will be covered by the Cashmere High School Rowing.

Necessary skills would include:

●Excellent technical knowledge (either as a rower or coach.)

●Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

●The ability to work with other entities at our affiliate club, including plant management and training allocations

●Supporting young rowers in a way which meets the needs of the school’s overall objectives of an inclusive, engaged and positive culture.

Cashmere High School is affiliated to Canterbury Rowing Club which provides the base from which the majority of our training occurs.
