Coaching on the Erg – tips and techniques

Rowing NZ will host a virtual Coaching on the Erg – tips and techniques seminar at 7pm on 22 September.

The virtual seminar will be facilitated by Eric Murray. Eric united with Hamish Bond in the men’s pair in 2009. They then began an unprecedented 69-race winning streak. This streak included two Olympic Gold medals (2012 and 2016) and eight World Championships titles. They also claimed World Best Times in two boat classes, the men’s pair and men’s coxed pair. These times still stand today. The duo raced together at the 2008 Olympics in the men’s four and a seventh-place finish left them disappointed but brought them back on the road to pairs success.

Coaches of all experience levels are encouraged to attend, with the seminar covering:

  • Refresher on the basics of erg training
  • Set-up guidance for rowers of all ages and abilities
  • Programming functions and tips
  • Technology and connectability
  • Technique and safe usage

If you have any questions you wish Eric to address throughout the seminar, please contact coachdevelopment@rowingnz.kiwi by 5 pm 20th September.

The session is open to all New Zealand coaches and there is no cost to attend. To register, click the ‘Register’ button above.

If you are having difficulty registering for a course, please ensure that you are logged in to your Rowing NZ profile. Failing that, try a laptop/or desktop browser. Alternatively, email coachdevelopment@rowingnz.kiwi and I will do my best to help :)
