The Vanuatu Rowing Association is celebrating is tenth anniversary this year and are again hosting the Masters in Paradise (MIP) Regatta in October 2018.

Located on the beautiful Erakor Lagoon, a protected 4km natural rowing venue to rival the Rotsee in Lucerne, the Port Vila Rowing club boasts a fleet of racing scull and sweep oared boats and an energetic local rowing community. MIP is the Vanuatu Rowing Association's major fundraiser to help send rowers to international regattas. This year they have rowers competing at the World Junior and World Senior Championships in Europe.

Accommodation packages are provided at the Ramada on the lagoon. Rooms overlook the regatta finish line and you can literally walk out of your room and into your boat.

Sunday’s regatta starts early with the first races beginning around 7.30am. The sculling boats (singles and doubles and quad) will be raced as divisions with prizes ( wooden carved fruit bats, salu salu necklaces and locally make jewelry) awarded to the winners after each event. The last race of the morning will be the international eights heat between Australia and Vanuatu to compete against the defending champions New Zealand.

Mondays’ race is a time trial format over a 4km circuit past some special watery scenery, including the Erakor village. That evening you will all be invited to the gala dinner and presentation of the Head of the Lagoon trophy and the corporate regatta winners.
