Founded in 1884, West End Rowing Club is based at Saunders Reserve, Avondale in Auckland.

Catering for all; from juniors to masters, from novices to internationals, West End Rowing Club is one of the largest and most successful rowing clubs in New Zealand. We like to think we are also one of the friendliest.

Whether you’re working, going to uni, or both, we believe in a balance between personal life and training so there is flexibility whatever your situation may be. We offer a fun, competitive, and successful club program with a focus on NZ Nationals.

For those with aspirations for the RPC and NZ Team or simply looking for high-level full-time training, International-class coaching and high-performance development from a world champion coach will develop your rowing peak performance through our club head coach Nick Dawe.

The club has had a proud history of developing athletes that have gone on to represent New Zealand at the highest level. Recent olympians are Mahe Drysdale, Juliette Drysdale (nee Haigh) and Stephen Jones. We also have a number of younger athletes who are training and attending junior international regattas.

The club is also proud to provide competitive rowers who chose not to enter into the RPC system an alternative avenue for their rowing. The club in recent years has sent crews to Henley Royal Regatta as well as Head of the Charles, Boston USA.
