Shannon started rowing back in 2012 at Whangarei Girls High School, competing at her last Maadi Cup in 2015. Shannon specializes in Lightweight Women's sculling, but has competed throughout her career against heavyweight rowers and has proven to be successful.

In 2018, Shannon competed against Australia in the Trans-Tasman U21 Regatta, winning the LW Women's Double, Women's Quad and Women's Eight in the first Series located in Sydney, Australia. Shannon continued into the Southern RPC team in the 2018/2019 season, coming away with a National title in the Women's U22 coxless quad and silver in the Women's U22 double. Shannon won her first Premier National Title in 2022, winning the Women's Premier Single Sculls, earning herself a red coat which is an impressive achievement as a lightweight rower. At the end of 2022, Shannon earned a spot in the Elite Development Squad which has set her up for her 2023 Elite Rowing campaign this year in the Women's LW Double.

Shannon won her second Premier National Title at the 2023 NZ Rowing Championship, where she teamed up with fellow lightweight Jackie Kiddle, winning the Women's Premier Double Sculls. Shannon has been named in the 2023 Elite Team, where she will be competing in the Lightweight Women's Double with partner, Jackie Kiddle - being preselected to race for the 2023 World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne, Switzerland. The duo went on to claim 6th place in the A-Final at World Rowing Cup III, which is a spectacular result for the new combination with a heap of potential.

Shannon has a huge passion for skiing in the cold winter months and is also interested in pursuing a career in the police force.
