At World Cup II in 2017 Drikus stroked the NZ men's eight to the fastest ever time for a New Zealand men's eight. Posting a time of 5:23.2 at his first international regatta in the men's eight. He raced in two seat of the eight which placed 6th at the World Championships.

In 2016 Drikus competed in the men's four at the Final Qualification regatta in Lucerne in May with the hope of qualifying for the Rio Olympic Games, missing out by just one place. He continued on with the elite New Zealand rowing team as a reserve for Rio.

Drikus started rowing in the 2012/2013 summer season for Hamilton Boys' High School as an under-17 novice. At the 2015 Under 23 World Rowing Championships Drikus represented New Zealand for the first time and won a silver medal in the men's coxed four.

Drikus has completed his Bachelor of Management Studies, majoring in Accounting and Economics. Outside of rowing Drikus also enjoys strategy, optimisation, planning, philosophy and understanding the mindsets of different people.
