Francie holds the important role of coxswain in the women’s eight and was integral to the crew making history as the first New Zealand women's eight to qualify for the Olympics.

Francie was part of the women’s eight that won a silver medal at the 2015 World Rowing Championships to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Originally hailing from Christchurch, Francie began her rowing career at Rangi Ruru School in 2005 but now lives in Hamilton and is coached by Dave Thompson. She is a member of the Canterbury Rowing Club.

France has been coxswain to multiple New Zealand crews over the years including the 2009 Junior women's eight which won silver and the 2010 and 2011 under-23 women's eights which also won silver. She also coxed the women's eight which competed at the 2010 World Rowing Championships in New Zealand.
