Men's Quadruple Scull
Giacomo is a member of the 2017 men's quadruple scull to compete at World Rowing Cup II and II, as well as the Henley Royal Regatta.
Giacomo began rowing at Hawkes Bay Rowing Club in 2006. He competed for Havelock North High School culminating with him winning the Boys’ U18 Single Sculls title at the Maadi Cup Regatta in 2009. He was then selected in the New Zealand Junior Men’s Quad who went on to win Bronze at the World Championships in France. Giacomo joined the Auckland RPC late 2009 and in 2010 was a member of the NZ U21 team which competed at the Youth Cup Regatta in Australia.
In 2012 Giacomo was selected in the U23 Men’s Quad which placed 5 th at the U23 World Championships, he improved on this result by winning a silver medal in the same event in 2013. For the 2014 and 2015 international seasons Giacomo was selected as the elite men’s sculling reserve. In 2016 Giacomo Thomas was a reserve for the New Zealand Rowing team that competed at the Final Olympic Qualification regatta in Lucerne.
