St John’s College (Hamilton) is a state integrated Catholic school with a roll of 920 boys situated in Hamilton. It has an outstanding reputation in terms of academic and sporting achievements.

St John’s College Rowing has seen a period of significant growth. This growth has come with success, both at club and school regattas. St John’s College Rowing is affiliated with Waikato Rowing Club, with facilities based at the heart of Hamilton on the mighty Waikato River.

We are seeking enthusiastic and positive coaches to join St John’s College Rowing in the 2024/2025 season and beyond. You will join the Head Coach to provide leadership within the rowing squad and be committed to developing a strong team culture.

Key aspects of the role are to:

● Follow and training programme across the full squad that focuses on the long term development and retention of our rowers

● Continue to build a culture that fosters a love of sport and team spirit as well as high achievement

The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:

● Rowing experience as a coach with proven knowledge and understanding of the skills, techniques and training processes required in rowing

● Attend weekly training sessions, attend regatta and training camps as required

● Excellent communication skills

● Knowledge and skills in developing team culture.

The successful applicant must be able to start at the beginning of the rowing season. St John’s College Rowing season begins on 1 August 2024 and the contract will conclude at the end of the 2024/2025 season.

This will be a paid contract role based on time commitments and experience. Please indicate other experience or qualifications in your application.

The applicant will be contracted to St John’s College and will also report directly to the St John’s College Rowing Head Coach.
