New Zealand Team

Each year Rowing New Zealand selects teams to represent New Zealand at international rowing competitions.

The core international competitions that are of immense importance to the Rowing New Zealand High Performance programme are the Olympic Games (held every 4 years - with the next Games in Tokyo in 2020) and Senior World Championships (held each year).

The Rowing World Cup series comprises three regattas held each year and overall winners are determined by points that are awarded to the top finishing boats at each event. From time to time the elite team attends events such as the Henley Royal Regatta.

Each year Rowing New Zealand also selects developing athletes to compete at the U23 World Rowing Championships, U21 Trans Tasman competition and the Junior World Rowing Championships. Rowing New Zealand also selects developing athletes (U20) to compete a the Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF) which is held every four years (following the Olympic Games) in January in Sydney.

New Zealand university students have also represented New Zealand at the World University Rowing Championships which are held every two years, and rowers have also raced at the Universiade (Summer University Games).
