There are a number of scholarships available to assist athletes study.

Prime Minister's Athlete Scholarships

The Prime Minister's Scholarship Programme helps emerging athletes to pursue tertiary study and elite-level sport development at the same time. The programme helps retain talented athletes in their sports, and also helps transition our athletes into a career pathway. Established in 2000, the programme supports the achievement of tertiary and vocational qualifications while pursuing excellence in sport.

Athletes that are currently part of Rowing New Zealand High Performance Programme are entitled to apply for a Prime Minister's Scholarship. i.e Athletes that have been selected into one of four Regional Performance Centres (RPC's). Athletes must also meet the criteria set out in the Prime Minister's Athlete Scholarship Guide.

Hillary Scholarships are now OPEN for 2016.

The Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship Programme –recipients of this scholarship are recognised for all-round talent in academia, sport or creative and performing art, and leadership. They receive a full domestic fees Scholarship for the duration of their studies, plus academic support, access to leading coaches and skill development assistance, free UniRec (on campus fitness centre) membership and physical conditioning plus a leadership and personal development plan.

Applications to the Scholarship are open to current secondary school and tertiary students and others actively involved in sport or the performance or creative arts. Please note for Rowing the minimum criteria is you are a member of an RPC. So for this year you would be a member of an RPC for the 2016/2017 season.
